February 20, 2022 • Hating the Light of Christ

The Light of Salvation is a descriptive way to think of everything that Jesus has done to rescue you from darkness of sin, guilt, death, and final judgment. The Son of God is the Light of the World –> He is the one God the Father sent to rescue you from the darkness of eternal death.

This is the greatest news of all time; it is truly GOSPEL: “Good News”.

You would think that every single person would run to this and never let go; that this would be the most valuable thing in all the world. You would think that everyone would want forgiveness of their sins, a clear conscience, and peace with God. You would think that everyone would want to survive death and escape the final judgment … but not so. Most people reject it; toss it away; ignore it; ridicule it; and trample it under foot.

Unbelief is a terrible thing – it’s a self-inflicted wound that separates people from their loving God: their Father in Heaven, and their Savior from sin.

That’s because people hate the Light. Jesus helps us understand unbelief in the Gospel of John.

And this is the judgment: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the Light and does not come to the Light, lest his works should be exposed. John 3:19-20

People hate the Light … and are hostile to it. They love their sin and want to live in the darkness.

But for those who trust in Christ, who believe His Word and promises, the Light of Christ means eternal life, and the presence of Christ in our lives!

AMEN!
