March 19, 2023 • Original Sin

The “Old Adam” is a reference to Original Sin. Original Sin is the sin that you are born with that separates you from God, it is the reason why you will die, and it leads to all the other sins that you commit.

In Baptism it drowns and dies — and you are given a new start, a new birth to live a life before God in righteousness and purity forever! You are a “new man”; a “new creation” in Christ!

Consider your sinful nature dead. Its drowned in Baptism. It has no power over you. It does not control your life.

You are a New Creation in Christ; a new man or new woman.
• Your sins are forgiven!
• You have peace with God!
• God is your Father in Heaven!
• The Holy Spirit lives within you!
• You have eternal life!

Live a holy and godly life of love …
• love God and serve your neighbor!
• Be patient and kind with everyone you interact with
• Obey the Ten Commandments when it comes to other people
• You can use your gifts and resources to help other people and support the work of the Church.

Consider your old Adam dead, and drowned in Holy Baptism. You have been born again and given a new life to live.

You have been rescued from Original Sin; through Holy Baptism, you are now a New Creation in Christ! Amen!
